About the Willamette Valley Pinot Noir: The 1988 Willamette Valley
Pinot Noir was the first wine produced in Oregon by the Drouhin
Family. With the 2008, which marks the 21st release, the Willamette
Valley Pinot Noir has become a foundational element of many great
wine lists and personal cellars. 95% of its fruit is produced on
the family’s estate in the Dundee Hills, and the wine is vinified
as all Drouhin wines are, with an eye towards elegance, balance and
finesse.
Véronique’s Tasting Notes: The 2010 Willamette Valley Pinot
Noir is already lovely, focused, and precise. On the nose and
on the palate, I find black cherry, dried cherry, and raspberry,
among other red fruits. The second layer is more floral, with
violets and lilac. Give the cooler growing season, this cuvée has
more lift from the bright acidity and will pair well with many
diffferent foods. Balanced with excellent length, the 2010 will
easily age 8-10 years. —Véronique Drouhin-Boss, January 2012
